THIS WEEK in the Monadnock Region, we return to the Space Lounge after a leeeeegnthy holiday hiatus for the FIRST EPISODE OF 2023...

* Is Friday the 13th about sacred femininity vs the patriarchy? (No, but we'd love to meet the guy who made this up like two years ago and hope he's still laughing about it)

* This wasn't JUST a Christmas/New Years/Kawanzaa break - Chris had surgery on 1/3, relinquishing his once-beloved right kidney in order to also get a hunk of accidental "cance" out of him (open to listener feedback regarding what color ugly bracelet we should use for Transitional Cell Carcinoma)

* Peeing and other bodily functions should remain relatively normal, and when they don't, find a doctor who will listen to you! (We're getting old, fellow Millennials; we gotta worry about these things now)

* If you had the chance, would you want to be a spectator for kidney surgery? (And what happened to those single-camera raw, unedited surgery shows TLC used to do back in the day? Have we as a society decided we no longer wish to see other people get operated on? Or are surgery shows still among us - just in a more evolved form?)

* Chris has complained for years about the broad overreaction to the opioid crisis, and now he is a VICTIM (it's possible, at least worth considering, that major organ removal cance surgery might sufficiently justify like 3-5 days of strong dope)

* Biology may be brutal and treacherous, but the point here is to see this act of healing done practically upon the New Year as the gateway to a 2023 of flourishing (...but, inspirational attitudes aside, January is boring even in a good year like that)

* It's so warm this winter that we can't even do crazy Wim Hof stuff even if we want to, and Chris can't even get any credit for not complaining about winter (but seriously bro you gotta try the cold water at the end of your shower)

* It might be quiet now, but lurking beneath the depths like the leviathan, Budget Season has quietly begun (before you know it we will be careening toward TOWN MEETING)

* There are drawbacks to open meeting laws (we'll eventually deal with it when we're in our 50s maybe)

We manage to stick to Christmas for at least the first hour and then...we wonder who killed JFK and things spiral around the globe from there. * How about one single person who cares deeply about this just pays for it - if we need it? (And if we don't have the need or the noblesse oblige patron...let's solution for alternatives!)

* You should not care *primarily* what ConVal wants - you should care what is in the public interest
