October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and we have special guests Dr. Pamela Habib (Head of US Medical Affairs, Bayer Radiology) and Dr. David Schacht (Breast Radiologist at Northwestern’s Lynne Sage Breast Center at Prentice Women’s Hospital) joining us to discuss the topic of breast density.

Many women schedule annual mammograms as a result of the national spotlight on breast health and breast cancer risk. But what happens if a mammogram identifies dense breast tissue? Nearly half of women aged 40 and over who have mammograms are told they have dense breasts, which can increase risk of breast cancer. For women with the densest breasts, the risk for breast cancer can be four to six times higher than women with the least dense breasts.

Today we welcome entrepreneur Jasmine Rae de Lung of Jasmine Rae Cakes. One of the world's most notable cake designers, Jasmine started her cake studio in 2006. The cornerstone of her work is the natural process—relying on experienced skills to set up her materials and revel in their surprise; to surrender to the contortion of a rice paper petal as it dries; and constantly be responding to the cake as it forms. She holds her clients in mind, replaying the parts of herself that overlap with her clients, their vision, their celebration, until an outcome is reached that is personal and authentic. Jasmine believes that art should reveal the hand of the artist.

Brian Kluth with the Bless Your Pastor organization joins for an enthralling discussion on how we can show our appreciation for the pastors in our lives.

National research by the Barna Group indicates that pastors are discouraged, with 43 percent of pastors saying that they have given serious consideration to leaving vocational ministry. The NAE created the Bless Your Pastor campaign to help churches encourage their pastors.

The Bless Your Pastor program encourages, equips and empowers Christians and churches to prepare for October Pastor Appreciation Month. Since 2019, over 2,500 churches have participated in Bless Your Pastor, raising $1.6 million in appreciation offerings. In addition, the NAE has sent $600,000 in grant-funded gift cards to senior pastors at participating churches.
