  • DJV Download - 12/24/21 – Happy Christmas Eve
Many families have Advent calendars, Doug always did and Victoria grew up with one each year as well. Jai’s family did something different – one of Santa’s elves, Brownie B, would send different flavors of popcorn. Did you know Doug has been to Nazareth and Bethlehem? He shares his experience and why his cab driver didn’t want to take him. Since this is the season of giving, the DJV team wants to encourage you to give a monetary gift to those in need. There are many nationwide nonprofits to give to, as well as local non-profits who will keep your donation in your community. Most Americans say they prefer to give gifts than get gifts, and we all feel the same why. Have you seen the Christmas movie “The Holiday,” starring Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet as two strangers who meet on a home swap website and decide to trade houses for the holiday season? A TikTok’r saw it for the first time over Thanksgiving and decided to see if a stranger wanted to do it in real life! We also ask the burning question which has the team divided every year . . . Real Christmas Tree or Fake Christmas Tree?

  • DJV Download - 12/22/21 – Everyone Should Learn the Heimlich Maneuver
A teacher in Washington D.C. held a re-enactment of the Holocaust with third-graders, which included some students pretending to die in gas chambers and with others digging mass graves. Apparently she had a history of issues, one of which had to do with neglecting her dogs. President Biden addressed the nation on COVID-19 with discussions on Omicron, home testing and strong words for Americans refusing to get vaccinated. Speaking of COVID, Chicago will require proof of vaccination at gyms, bars and restaurants – but the mandate will not apply to schools, churches nor private events like weddings. In saving-lives-news, a teenage McDonald’s worker noticed a customer choking in their car and jumped through the drive-thru window to administer the Heimlich maneuver. She may not be a doctor in real life, but she plays one on T.V. – for now. Ellen Pompeo is ready to hang up her scrubs and has been trying to convince others that “Grey’s Anatomy” should come to an end, but claims everyone else in Shondaland is like, “Who cares, Ellen? [The show] makes a gazillion dollars.”

  • DJV Download - 12/21/21 – No Champagne, No Gain
A brawl broke out at Miami International Airport when two passengers on a delayed flight got into it, causing security to be called to the gate and bystanders pulling out their phones to capture video of the situation. There seems to be a champagne shortage, disrupting bottomless mimosas at brunches everywhere. Do you know how to avoid getting scammed online? Doug, Jen, Victoria and Jai share the tips to keep your information (and bank account) safe. In entertainment news, a judge has denied Kelly Clarkson’s request to have her ex-husband evicted from the Montana ranch the couple once shared which had been recently awarded to Clarkson. The judge cited Blackstock’s inability to move out and get a new place due to his financial situation . . . even though the “Since U Been Gone” singer has been ordered to pay almost $200K per month in spousal and child support.

  • DJV Download - 12/16/21 – Doug's Place in Space
Doug wants to go to space and is wondering what Victoria and Jai are going to do about helping him get there. (Spoiler Alert: NOT donating to his efforts.) Have you seen the new William Shatner documentary, detailing his trip to the outer limits? It starts two years prior to takeoff and is absolutely fascinating. It also shows the fear behind loved ones’ eyes, watching the people they care about make that trip and fearing they won’t make it back. Also in space news, NASA is looking into using Earth-observing satellites to better understand climate change and global warming. Included in today’s conversations are the hazards of apartment living, especially in New York City, as well as Armie Hammers release from rehab and what he faces next.
