In this weeks podcast Charlie and Eddie, with their special guest, Geoff Eckart discuss what pastors can do to help them stick with their ministry. They talk about some of the challenges pastors face and how they can be overcome.

Jeff Eckart lives in Grand Rapids, MI with his wife Arianna. Together they have 3 daughters. In 2009 he founded Never The Same, a national youth ministry organization. In 2021 he became the Lead Pastor at Daybreak Church. Jeff is on the Executive Board for the National Day of Prayer, and speaks locally, regionally, nationally and internationally to audiences of all ages. He has bachelors and master’s degrees in ministry from Indiana Wesleyan University and Grand Rapids Theological Seminary and is ordained in the Wesleyan Church. In this weeks podcast Eddy and Charlie have special guest Dr. Derek Idol back for part 2. This week they discuss how students are becoming more and more hungry for the word of God. They also discuss steps youth pastors can take to help guide students into their call to ministry and how to encourage their students in their call to ministry.

Dr. Derik Idol is a residential and online professor at Liberty University, and serves as the Executive Director of the Center for Youth Ministry.  Before joining the LU faculty he served on staff in the local church all over the country at churches of different sizes (250 to 20000+) in weekly attendance.  He has a huge heart and passion to raise up the Next Generation of Leaders. He is married to his beautiful wife Meagan and has two children; Abby and Austin.  He loves the outdoors from hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, etc.

In this weeks podcast Charlie with special guest Rick Rucker discuss what Rick has learned in his years of ministry. They discuss what it can look like to reach out to those in the church and invite them to come along and serve the youth.

Rick was born and raised in Ohio. In 1995, Rick started attending Cypress. Rick quickly got involved in the student ministry and began serving in it regularly. As a high school student, he had the desire to see his friends know Christ so he started a Bible study in his parent’s basement. Reaching out to others has always been a passion of his. Rick attended Ohio Christian University for a degree in Student Ministries while working part-time as the Cypress Middle School Student Pastor on the weekends. Upon graduation in 2001, Rick became a full-time, Student Pastor at Cypress. Rick was involved in student ministry for 15 years and then transitioned into working as the Director of Hospitality and leading Cypress’ Resident and Intern program. Ministry has always been Rick’s heart and he longs to see people come to Christ and begin their faith journey.

Olivia Williamson began working for Never the Same in 2019 as the Director of Mobilization for Claim Your Campus 2020. She now serves as the Director of Campus Ministries (Claim Your Campus and Enlightened Students). She founded Enlightened Students in 2014 and continues to equip student leaders to lead worship events for their schools across the country. Olivia is an engaging speaker, musician, passionate worship leader, and writer. With a heart for schools, the Church, and developing young leaders, she desires to see leaders rise up and take their place in the Kingdom.

Olivia lives in Kansas City with her husband, Kyle. He serves as a Student Director in a local church. They are happily married with their dog, Captain.

D.J. Coleman is passionate about joining God in His ministry of reconciliation. Driven by a desire to minister with excellence, D.J. completed his Doctor of Ministry in Church Leadership and Community Witness at Candler School of Theology. There he developed an interactive, seminar-style training to educate and equip church leaders for effective multiethnic discipleship. He has pastored in various ministry areas, from children’s ministry to student ministry to multifaith engagement. He believes every venue in church should be a space for every race and is excited to share about his experience as the leader of an intentionally multiethnic student ministry. 

D.J. currently lives in Marion, IN with his wife and three children. As Assistant Professor of Practical Theology at Indiana Wesleyan University, he is grateful for the opportunity to educate and encourage students in their calling.
