In this episode, I dive into a pattern I know all too well: numbing. Whether it’s alcohol, exercise, work, perfectionism, or simply avoiding what feels hard, I’ve often used distraction to escape uncomfortable emotions like anger, anxiety, resentment, and vulnerability.
But here’s the truth — emotions aren’t our enemies. They have value, they have wisdom, and they’re meant to move through us. Anger can propel us forward, worry can help us take action, and even vulnerability has its purpose. When we push them down, they don’t disappear — they resurface, often louder than before.
I share personal stories of how I’ve struggled with numbing and avoidance, and why I’m learning instead to notice what I feel, to sit with it without judgment, and to allow it to be. When we stop fighting our emotions and start working with them, deep healing begins.
