At the Last Supper, Jesus announced a new covenant that would transform humanity's relationship with God. Throughout history, God made covenants with Noah, Abraham, Israel, and David, but humanity consistently failed to keep their commitments. The prophet Jeremiah promised a new covenant where God would write His law on people's hearts. Jesus fulfilled this promise by becoming the faithful covenant partner humanity could never be. Through His sacrifice, He didn't just cover sin but removed it completely. This new covenant isn't earned through good works or church attendance, but received by grace alone through faith in Christ.
