Romans 9:15-16,22

[15]For He says to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy and I will have compassion (pity) on whom I will have compassion. [Exod. 33:19.]

[16]So then [God's gift] is not a question of human will and human effort, but of God's mercy. [It depends not on one's own willingness nor on his strenuous exertion as in running a race, but on God's having mercy on him.]

[22]What if God, although fully intending to show [the awfulness of] His wrath and to make known His power and authority, has tolerated with much patience the vessels (objects) of [His] anger which are ripe for destruction? [Prov. 16:4.]

Mark 4:30-32

[30]And He said, With what can we compare the kingdom of God, or what parable shall we use to illustrate and explain it?

[31]It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when sown upon the ground, is the smallest of all seeds upon the earth;

[32]Yet after it is sown, it grows up and becomes the greatest of all garden herbs and puts out large branches, so that the birds of the air are able to make nests and dwell in its shade.
