- The Civilian Review Board was created with the purpose of providing civilian review over police complaints, and advice over training. What do you get when you cut your coffee intake back even just a little bit? You get niceness. We're here and so are you! Let's get busy!

- So we're still the 2nd largest city in Illinois, but, our numbers HAVE dropped. What does this mean for the city in economic terms? Also, what can be done to boost future turnout? Read the article here: https://www.chicagotribune.com/suburbs/aurora-beacon-news/ct-abn-aurora-2020-census-st-2021-0813-20210813-euoefxibavcpnobc6m3v22znje-story.html

- Now there's been a lot of use of the word "gentrification" lately. A lot of people using it don't know what it means. Or so it appears. We spoke on housing, red-lining and other traditionally discriminatory practices; here's an unvarnished look at the worst of the worst. Educate yourself. Read the article here: https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2021/08/12/us/2020-census-race-ethnicity.html

- Lastly, and most infuriatingly: what's the point of a "moratorium" on evictions is people still get kicked out of their places of living? That would seem like the opposite of a "moratorium". Not only that, what does it say about humanity and "our morals"? Read this article: https://www.chicagotribune.com/suburbs/aurora-beacon-news/opinion/ct-abn-crosby-evictions-st-0815-20210815-dqvwsivrj5gshizxq7rb3onhx4-story.html

And once again we made it through another week! Got plans? Let us know about them and who knows, maybe you'll see us out there. We hope you all have a great and safe weekend out there. Subscribe to the show on YouTube and Spotify and we will see you once again on Monday. Peace! 🎙🇺🇸 #friday

In January of last year, 21 year old East Aurora High School graduate Miguel Villalon was killed in Afghanistan by a roadside bomb. At the time it sent shockwaves through the community and made plain the tragedy of armed conflict. It has since come to pass that the United States has ended it's 20 year occupation of Afghanistan. This has been historic, yet for many in our shared American communities there has not been full closure. Good Morning Aurora had the opportunity to speak to a high school friend of Mr. Villalon's. It was our first chance to interview someone who had known a fallen Aurora. This is that story.

A very well written article from that time can be found here: https://www.chicagotribune.com/suburbs/aurora-beacon-news/opinion/ct-abn-crosby-miguel-st-0115-20200114-i7d3k7yodbfclnnzxmarctikwu-story.html
