As we start learning more about Memorial day, did you know that Memorial Day was originally known as Decoration Day? After the years of the Civil War it became an official federal holiday in 1971 to show respect for the military forces who sadly died during the war.
As we continue celebrating AAPI month, did you know that Cha Eun Woo is one of the top followed Korean actors on Instagram at 20.4 million followers?
As we continue learning about AAPI Month, did you know that Simon Tam is a well known bassist who founded the Asian American Dance-Rock Band?
As we continue with celebrating AAPI Month, did you know that Lance Allan Ito was appointed to the Superior Court in 1989 after serving two years in the Municipal Court?
Gemma Chan - as we continue celebrating AAPI Month, did you know that while Gemma Chan was attending the Drama Centre of London, she also modelled to help with the funding.
As we continue with National Asian Pacific Islander Month, did you know that you can celebrate this month by watching a movie that’s produced by an asian producer? It’s just a way to show Asians some appreciation for a few of their amazing movies made by them. I would definitely recommend watching “Train to Busan,” since it’s a very cool movie. It includes a very good lesson at the end, and has some very terrifying, but astonishing scenes. Netflix has a section you can browse called Celebrate Asian & Pacific Islander Stories that you can browse.
As we start talking about National Asian Pacfic Islander Month, did you know that there were many ways to celebrate this celebration? For example, one way to celebrate this wonderful holiday is by visiting the Robert D. Ray Asian Gardens. These Gardens in Downtown DSM recognize the contributions that Asian Americans have made to Iowa and serve as a monument honoring Robert D. Ray for his remarkable leadership and humanitarian outreach to welcome and support Asian Americans.

Did you know that in 1990, President George H.W. Bush designated the month of May as Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month? May was chosen to commemorate the immigration of the first Japanese to the U.S. on May 7, 1843, and to mark the anniversary of the completion of the transcontinental railroad on May 10, 1869.
