As we continue to celebrate Black History Month, did you know that Rosa Parks was a civil rights activist who refused to surrender her seat to a white passenger on a segregated bus in Montgomery, Alabama? Her defiance sparked the Montgomery Bus Boycott. Its success launched nationwide efforts to end racial segregation of public facilities.

As we continue to celebrate Black History Month, did you know Frederick Douglass escaped slavery only to become a prominent activist, author and public speaker? He became a leader in the abolitionist movement, which sought to end the practice of slavery, before and during the Civil War.

Did you know that this month is Black History Month? To celebrate that we would like to highlight a different African American historical figure each day. Today we will start with Harriet Tubman who escaped slavery to become a leading abolitionist or someone who fought against slavery. She led hundreds of enslaved people to freedom along the route of the Underground Railroad. Her face was supposed to replace Andrew Jackson on the $20 bill but that was delayed in 2016, however President Biden has recently announced that he is going to make that happen soon! So, when you see her on your $20 now you know why she deserves to be there!
