The group Escucha Mi Voz Iowa and Traore’s sons will visit Miller-Meeks' Davenport office Friday, asking her staff to set up a meeting to help return their mother home.

Adults aged 60 or older, persons with a disability, families with children under the age of five, and households that are disconnected from their utilities or have less than 25% left in their propane tank can apply.

During Monday night’s city council meeting, the council unanimously approved a contract with Moetivations for PRN dispatcher services totaling nearly $175,000. The funding is coming from the department’s budget, as multiple positions remain unfilled.

River Action has owned and operated the bridge’s lights since 1986. The decision to turn off the lights for bird migration started in Fall 2024.

At its regular meeting Wednesday night, the Davenport City Council voted unanimously to hold a special meeting on October 7th to fill the vacancy. Residents in the second ward, which covers the northwest part of the city, have until Friday, October 2nd to submit a letter of interest and resume to the city clerk for consideration.

The Rock Island Milan School District is planning a series of town halls later this fall to refine its technology and cellphone policy. The policy must be in place before the start of the 2027 academic year. That’s when an Illinois law requiring school districts to comply with cell phone and other wireless technology restrictions goes into effect.

First Presbyterian Church and nonprofit Tapestry Farms partnered to rehab two century-old homes near the church over the last 18 months.
