WELCOME, one and all, to the long-awaited premiere of season 4! Today, your good ol' host, Shift Orion, is joined by Nick Roth and Lindsey Haun. Shift and Nick met while wandering around in the howling abyss of social media. Nick was looking for podcasts to talk about his new movie, Hanky Panky, and Shift was looking for inspiration to reboot this show.
So Nick hailed Lindsey to join Shift for a chat about this fantastic, whacky, elevated, innovative film made with love under crazy conditions.
And they also talk about other things like Nick and Lindsey's kids, Nick's upcoming haunted dreidel film, Lindsey's dark and vague works in progress, and Shift's upcoming sci-fi about an average white American man who gets knocked up by an alien parasite just after landing his dream job and has flashbacks to that one time he tried to convince his teenage girlfriend to not have an abortion.
We hope you enjoy this episode and then go watch Hanky Panky on Tubi!
Special thanks to Gina Mangiaracinage for hooking it up with the functioning Internet that carried this episode to your ear holes while my Internet was not working.
Nick & Lindsey, Co-Directors:
Hanky Panky marks the feature debut of frequent collaborators and future Hollywood power couple Nick and Lindsey.
Lindsey is a gold-record winning singer/songwriter, an actor and horror icon (Village of the Damned, Trueblood, Shrooms, Color of Friendship), and a director of several award-winning short films and music videos. She is repped by Bohemia Group.
Nick is a former middle-school substitute Latin teacher, current pun factory, and film and television writer who most recently wrote on ABC sitcom American Housewife. He is repped by Zero Gravity.
About HANKY PANKY
Logline: A man and his talking handkerchief save the world from an evil top-hat, and also learn to love.
Genre: Puppets and Blood.
Runtime: 86 minutes, 4 of which is a fight scene between a napkin and a hat.
Full Synopsis: When sweet and quirky ayahuasca marriage counselor Diane mistakenly invites the wrong “Sam” to a retreat she’s co-hosting with friends and family at an isolated snowy mountain cabin, instead of her best friend’s sister Samantha showing up, she gets Sam, a socially anxious oddball who has brought his best friend, Woody, a foul-mouthed talking handkerchief Sam believes only he can hear, and who is sexually aroused by cleaning up messes. Diane is Sam’s opposite, but it’s love at first sight. The only thing that stands between them is that right away everyone in the cabin starts being mysteriously murdered, and the whole vacation quickly descends into a zany pandemonium of cults, psychedelics, aliens, and, as Woody himself puts it, delicious chaos.
Short Synopsis: A socially anxious oddball and his best friend, a foul-mouthed talking handkerchief who is sexually aroused by cleaning up messes, must confront an inter-dimensional evil in order to save the world and find true love.

"A perfect pick for 420... gleefully absurd... No matter how deeply you've dived into horror comedies, I can assure you that you've never seen anything quite like this... the comedy equivalent of a Jackson Pollock... sensational... an absolute avalanche of silliness... “

Directors’ Statement: Hanky Panky was inspired by the way certain zany comedies like Wet Hot American Summer and Caddyshack seemed to capture the energy of locking their whole cast and crew together in, say, a summer camp, or a coke-orgy fueled hotel in the middle of a Florida hurricane with Chevy Chase -- and then somehow get that energy on screen. We shot Hanky Panky in Lindsey's dad's cabin in the mountains above Heber, Utah, where the entire cast and crew crammed together, at 8,000ft of elevation, during the most intense blizzard ever recorded there. It was a true anarcho-communist-guerilla production: literally no budget, nobody got paid, everyone chipped in for food and drugs, and we all cooperatively own the film now. We shot it on a camera our team won with a short film at Slamdance in 2015. A friend who shoots porn let us borrow his lights. By far our biggest expense was that Lindsey backed her car into Nick's in the blizzard and knocked out a headlight, so that did cost us like $900 to fix. It was crazy. Everyone went a little bit crazy. Some of us went a lot a bit crazy. It's our hope that a bunch of that fun, contagious craziness has ended up on the screen.

Let’s time travel back to January 29, 2023, with the glorious gem, Amy Dee, who came to stand by Shift as he firmly defends his reputation with the truth.
Some liars have threatened Shift’s life and livelihood by targeting him with hundreds of triggered fanatics --- this story is very important.
Learn about the timeline of Shift’s experience getting caught up in Eat Predators' messy “organization” after Alexa Nikolas started what may be the most selfish, inappropriate, and poorly managed book club that has ever existed outside of Yellowjackets season 1.
Amy Dee reminds us that the #metoo movement centralizes around Central Casting, and mentions how irrelevant people can be made relevant by connecting their names in articles to actually important, well-known people and events.
Shift covers some anecdotal moments like how Alexa Nikolas' husband randomly left their baby alone with him... In a car... With the keys. And made Shift drive the baby around while he and Alexa Nikolas hung around taking pictures at a protest at Orange County School of the Arts with people like Nomi Abadi, Amanda Peters, and their partners. He also mentions how he was aggressively harassed by a police officer during the time they left him and their child alone.
Shift refers to the bizarre and mysterious exposé website, alexanikolas.net, and how far back some truly alarming accusations about Alexa Nikolas’ abuse of others goes. He also reviews how Melanie Veronica inserted her undeserved and erratic #freebritney clout to boost Alexa Nikolas’ lies.
Tangentially, Shift highlights how long he's been working with media, culture, and movements with a story about taking care of Bella Eiko’s baby for 2 weeks in 2014 when Bella went to live stream the events in Ferguson just after Mike Brown was killed.
Can Alexa Nikolas project a lie that shines brighter than who Shift really is?
Can people play dumb while being smartasses?
Can movements ever get their shit together?
In all these questions and confusions… we know this much is true… liberal movement "leaders" tend to make themselves the Mean Girls in every room they’re in.
And… Shift and Amy Dee are committed to facing any foe to help make society more trauma-informed and honest.
How did Shift go from being called a “godsend” to being falsely accused of being a “stalker” by Alexa Nikolas and her husband, her mother, and her cultish fanatical “organization”?
Let’s get into it.
Hate us or love us? Call us and tell us at 415-343-4420.
Also.... get ready for Amy Dee and Shift's upcoming podcast, Glitch Sesh! A media and culturally-informed history and society focusing on spiritual predators and power abusers who seek to serve themselves at the expense of society and the cultural ramifications and consequences and how social behavior contributes to the erosion of trust in the culture of American society in modern times.
Season 1 is all about Britney Spears' circa 2004-2005.
[By the way, we aren’t breaking any laws, civil or criminal, by continuing to tell the truth.]
Lapi rushes in to update us on the new vile, fallacious smear/scare campaign being spun into tangled webs of lies that are constricting the #freebritney ecosystem.
Lapi points out the extreme danger that cult behavior in Eat Predators poses to survivors and allies. Shift points out how much of a waste of time it was for Lapi to try and come up with more respectful terms than “pink clown” to describe Melanie Veronica even after she tried to silence him from publicly addressing concerns about Michael Kane controlling Britney Spears’ business.
How tragically meta that the Free Britney groupies are now getting their own following of fans.
Let’s connect some alleged dots.
The growing list of false accusations Melanie and Alexa have publicly made against Shift includes uncharacteristic criminal and unethical acts… all because they don’t want you to hear our episode about The Real & True Origin Story Of Eat Predators w/ Caeli Higgins and Kay Brown.
You could check it out. Or maybe you should just shield your eyes and ears from the truth since these pretty little gals don’t want you to know what’s in there.
Get the real timeline of events to clarify confusion and alleviate public fear that Alexa Nikolas conjured up with her bizarre, alarmist tweets and “69 page open letter” (that Shift still hasn’t read yet as of the airing of this episode and) that (according to multiple lawyers, PR professionals, and literally random people just using basic common sense) should be removed and revised with the truth.
Learn what malfeasance Haunted American Girl Dolls Meanie the Clown and Hellexa are up to.
Melanie Veronica is running out of reasons to propel her fame on the inertia of Britney Spears' conservatorship case so it could make sense that she's trying to stay relevant by fabricating scary stories with deceitful, failed former child actor, Alexa Whattheactualfuckgurl Nikolas.
Anyway… go listen to Lapi's new song as a palate cleanser when you're done getting updated on this shitshow.

What if you were allowed, even encouraged, to lie? If you’re learning about public communications from Professor Christine Warda, you might find yourself invited to lie… and possibly rewarded for lying if you do it well.
Let's explore some angles on information, misinformation, and disinformation.
After Shift gets into how much he doesn’t get commercial holidays… briefly time-travel with christY back to 2011 when she was trying to hold teach-ins about what Occupy Oakland was really doing... and how she got the shakedown from law enforcement based on devious media warping their expectations.
This chat on ethical communications kinda gets into everything here… truth, lies, trust, the idea of what a "friend" is, human psychology, betrayal, social dynamics, pop culture, media, news, the unreliable narratives our memories can offer us, satire, influence, fear, derailed trains in East Palestine, Ohio... ruining television, conspiracy theories, our individual power, aliens (except not according to Biden’s White House)… but…
You can leave your tin foil hat on the rack for this one. Shift and christY get this show back on the rails with a sobering look at perception and trust.

About Sam Maloney and Warner Music Group sexual harassment and NDA abuse
Lapi returns to discuss concerns about Alexa Nikolas hijacking the Eat Predators group from the seasoned survivor advocates, organizers only to wind up manipulating the #freeBritney movement for visibility and fame-chasing with Melanie Veronica.
Shift misquotes one of his favorite quotes --- then google checks himself. Lapi ponders on the ethics of big platforms weaponizing the Internet to attack people, then tears into callout culture and celebrity influence on fanbases.
Lapi describes being contacted by participants of #freeBritney who were reaching out to bully and guilt him into reporting posts on and blocking Shift’s personal and the Good Morning Mayberry Instagram accounts to suppress our reach in retaliation for us offering the episode we released with Kay Brown and Caeli Higgins a couple of weeks ago.
Lapi and Shift connect to discuss the alarming and disorienting distraction the hijacking of the Eat Predators "group" has become for ethics watchdogs, activists, advocates, and people who need us.
Heads up! We talk about Melanie Veronica, who is — at the time of this recording — on both Shift and Lapi’s shit list… and also Melanie Carlson aka Mx_Defying, who is a leading entertainment business researcher specializing in Britney brands.

Can we Eat Predators if we are what we eat?
Kay Brown (Four 4 Consent, Nightlife Safety Summit) and Caeli Higgins (Music Industry Watchdog) join Shift Orion to describe the origins of the Eat Predators collective and how the brand was co-opted as they were driven out… just before Shift discovered it on social media, joined the unregulated Eat Predators Book Club, and hauled his ass from SF to LA to help the mysteriously misrepresented "leadership" lock down a business strategy.
Caeli and Kay detail their experience forming Eat Predators alongside other survivors and organizers like Nomi Abadi, Sochil Martin, and Alexa Nikolas.
They cover the first planning meetings, escalating miscommunication and misrepresentation accelerated by media attention from a nearly-off-brand protest at Nickelodeon, and challenges navigating interpersonal and professional conflicts as the group (and Alexa's wounded ego) grew faster than anyone (except people who’ve been crushed by it) could imagine. As the media and public began to exclusively center and sensationalize Alexa, her participation and story have warped.
Shift describes his experience getting into the "Eat Predators book club" (then finding out it was never supposed to exist), having a short-lived but intense friendship with Alexa (and an even shorter-lived role working as her media and public relations manager), and being shocked and heartbroken discovering that Alexa had misled him about everything. Opening up about getting to know her remotely then planning an in-person visit, even staying at Alexa's house for 5 days, Shift recalls how quickly Alexa's endearing personality turned hostile after he became concerned about her capacity and ethics as she orchestrated the book club community and other people to shun him by making alarming and untrue claims.
Ultimately, the conversation remains loving and generous with hope for accountability, amends, and honesty to prevail.
Perhaps this is only the beginning of the story...
