Peter is calling the new believers in Asia Minor to good lives – to lives that are so good that they draw others to God (2:12). 1 Peter 3 begins with the word, ‘wives’, but it is settled squarely in the context of the broad mission of God. Earlier 1 Peter 2:12 says that we are to “live such good lives among the pagans that…they may see your good deeds & glorify God on the day he visits us.”

For this is the will of God, that by doing good you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish people. Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God. Honor everyone. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the emperor. 1 Peter 2:13-17

Verse: He is not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee, that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and on the third day rise.” Luke 24:6-7

Summary: Jesus had spoken about his death & resurrection several times. At other times, He spoke in a general sense of the resurrection of the dead. But, his disciples had not “heard” what he was saying. On Resurrection Day, they were puzzled when they saw the empty tomb.
