After arguing that keeping man-made rules and denying yourself things that the Bible does not forbid (Asceticism) are not the way to godliness, Paul goes on to tell the Colossians how to win the battle against sin. He mentions that we have died with Christ in the past (3:1), are hidden with Christ in the present (3:3) and will be revealed with Christ in the future (3:4).

When you initially meet Christ as Savior and Lord, you feel free. Your guilt is gone. You have peace with God. He gives you great joy and hope! But those feelings do not automatically last. Trials and disappointments come, and doubts creep in. How do you sustain that Freedom in Christ?
