"Verses Taken Out of Context" Series (Matthew 18:20)
Sermon Notes:
What are some of the "one anothers" of the New Testament?
(1) The Parable (of the Lost Sheep)
Jesus tells this parable for 2 reasons:
1- to show us what He is like
Specifically, what 3 things about God does this parable communicate to us?
* You are not just a number to God
* God's not going to let you go
* God rejoices over you
2- - To show us how we are to treat one another
(2) The Practice
1 - This is a helpful reminder that our fellow believers will sin.
2 - When someone sins against us, we are to go to them.
3 - We are to go to them in private.
4 - The goal is to gain our brother or sister
5 - We go to them when we see sin in their life
What happens if this person refuses to acknowledge and repent of their sin?
What point is Jesus making in verse 20?
