Good News Podcast

Here at the podcast we've been desperately needing a break from the monotony, so join us in a conversation meant to lighten the mood and lift the spirits. We start off with an update of how the Worship Bracket Challenge is going and who has the lead between Austin, David, and Trevor. Then we go into a time of random questions, Pitch Perfect, biblical football players, superheroes, and more!

Our second episode on the Worship Bracket Challenge features a special guest: our dear friend Tayevaughn Williams. Join us in our topic of gospel music and the unique role it has played in society and in the lives of Christians. History lessons, worship rhetoric, liberation theology, and how Tayevaughn gets crazy in worship are all part of the conversation today.

Trevor and David discuss the reopening of businesses in Texas and their thought process in the extent to which they believe their churches should respond. Discussions of the impact of reopening a church on children, hospitality, services, vulnerable populations, and more are the hot topic today, with some more discussion at the end over the Worship Bracket Challenge and a short segue into the NFL Draft, just for kicks.

A new series begins! Trevor, David, and Austin talk about their challenge to find the best worship song ever, tournament-style. In this podcast we form a 16-song bracket from a variety of different worship genres and histories to eventually face off against each other one-on-one. For more information about how to participate in this fun exercise, or to see the bracket, visit the Facebook pages of either Good News UMC Leander or Rockbridge Church.

Today David, Trevor, and Austin talk with their good friend Oskar about outdoor recreation and ways we can have fun with the family outside, both during stay-at-home time and once this is all over! Topics include Kubb, which is apparently a game, slacklining, backyard camping, bad kayak experiences, and the manliest of Olympic games.

Join Austin and David for another episode discussing classic hymns, their stories, and what we can gain from them. Today's hymn, What A Friend We Have In Jesus, opened up a larger conversation about prayer and friendship with God. Tune in to hear the conversation!

Join us in our conversation about board games! We talk about our histories with board games, including David being an "evangelist" of them, as well as gateway games to get into board games, the benefits of playing them, and what they can provide for us in the middle of the Coronavirus pandemic.

We continue our How Sweet The Sound series on famous hymns with a conversation between Pastor David and Austin about the song It Is Well. Ramblings include the history of the hymn, musical qualities and significance of the song, coping with the Coronavirus pandemic, the relationship between grief and art, and much more!
