"I'll do my part then God will do His." Sounds good, but could it be the sign of a lukewarm soul-winner?

God hasn't called us merely to start the Christian life, He has called us to finish our course, fight the good fight, and keep the faith. Through the example of Paul and the finished work of Christ, this message challenges us to make ourselves available to God, stand against the world and our flesh, and determine that no matter what comes our way, we're going to finish.

This Bible Study examines the rapid growth of the early church and the opposing forces it encountered, highlighting how God's Word continued to spread despite persecution. It details Gamaliel's counsel to the Sanhedrin, who recognized that opposing a movement from God is futile, leading them to spare the apostles after flogging them. The apostles responded to suffering with joy, remaining steadfast in their witness while the church faced internal challenges regarding the neglect of Hellenistic widows. In response, the believers delegated administrative duties to seven men of good reputation, allowing the apostles to focus on prayer and the ministry of the Word. This structural adjustment resulted in further expansion of the faith, even among the priests, demonstrating that unity and obedience to God ensure the gospel's unstoppable advance.

What was in Jesus' Bible? The good news is that all of the content in Jesus' Bible is in our Old Testaments. But, surprise: the order is different. And the order matters for how well we read the story of the Old Testament and how clearly we see Christ there and ourselves in God's plan today. In Luke 24:44, when Jesus said, "everything written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled" he referred to a technical three-part division to the Scripture he and every Jewish person grew up with at the time.

Christ's dealing with the woman at the well shows believers how to speak to souls wisely, personally, and with God at the center. From John 4 we see that true evangelism often happens in ordinary daily encounters, not in organized campaigns, and that believers should be ready to speak first, use everyday circumstances as a doorway, and turn the conversation toward God and eternal things. We can see how Jesus moved the woman from earthly thoughts about water and daily burdens to the deeper need of her soul, eventually bringing her sin into the light without a careless or confrontational approach. Believers need to be filled with the Word of God, alert to divine appointments, willing to speak a good word for the Lord, and careful to let God expose the heart so sinners may come face to face with Him, their sin, and the living water only Christ can give.

The sermon explores the challenge of maintaining spiritual focus amidst a busy, demanding world by examining Jesus' ministry in Mark chapter one. It highlights how Jesus balanced legitimate public duties with the essential need for private prayer and solitude to sustain His divine purpose.
