A U of S psychologist is spearheading a project to help keep seniors connected and socializing even as COVID-19 leaves many seniors locked down. Megan O'Connell's team received almost $200,000 in funding to expand a pilot project for older adults and extend the program into B.C. Their "virtual socialization hubs" involve groups of 8-10 seniors chatting online through videoconferencing, and includes training and support in use of the technology. O'Connell joins Gormley to tell us more.

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic we've heard plenty of rhetoric like "we're all in this together," but some people seem to be using the virus as an excuse to be a jerk. Executive Producer Sheena Roszell recently tried to hold a door for a neighbour when he had his arms full, and the guy responded by shouting and swearing at her for not being six feet away from him, and called her an idiot. Are the Trudeau Liberals becoming a "climate cult"? That's what Dan McTeague, president of Canadians for Affordable Energy, wrote in the Financial Post in a column about the Clean Fuel Standard, which he called "a second carbon tax." McTeague, a former Liberal MP turned energy advocate, says the new measure would cost Canada as many as 30,000 jobs.

SaskParty and NDP both released their platforms Friday, with Scott Moe focusing on balancing the budget and Ryan Meili promising to increase spending across the board. Political scientist Greg Poelzer joins Gormley to help analyze the party platforms.

The Saskatchewan comedy series 'Corner Gas,' which ran from 2004-2009, is still going strong in its new animated format. The third season of 'Corner Gas: Animated' is set to premier Thanksgiving Monday, Oct. 12, with back-to-back episodes on CTV Comedy Channel. Creator, producer, and star Brent Butt joins Gormley to discuss the success of the animated series (which picked up three 2020 Canadian Screen Awards), how 'Corner Gas' has changed his life, and what's different in working with animation instead of live-action production.
