Robert Freberg is Saskatchewan's newest Chief Firearms Officer, and the first to be appointed at the provincial level. Freberg will be responsible for administering the federal Firearms Act, and will have jurisdiction over licensing, transportation, and carrying of firearms. Corrections and Policing Minister Christine Tell says Freberg's appointment will give Saskatchewan a stronger voice on firearm issues which are decided federally, and Freberg joins Drew to tell us more.

Ottawa spent more than $600M in paid leave for federal employees during the first months of the COVID-19 pandemic, and that total is expected to keep increasing as more public servants stay home from work. Todd McKay with the Canadian Taxpayers' Association is warning the paid leave for federal employees could soon reach $1B, and noted that most private sector employees faced layoffs and needed to rely on the CERB for income. McKay joins Drew to discuss the concerns over the massive spending on paid leave.

On Tuesday we spoke with David Tschetter, Chair of the Hutterian Safety Council, who raised concerns that the Government of Saskatchewan is creating issues for the Hutterite communities that are struggling with COVID-19, particularly by connecting the newly-reported cases to Hutterite colonies. Tschetter says Hutterites are facing discrimination as a result, and Drew is joined by Rural and Remote Health Minister Warren Kaeding to discuss how the relationship between the Province and our Hutterite communities can be improved.

As September approaches and back to school, the debate continues on whether or not children should be sent back to class. Federal Conservative Party Leader Andrew Scheer has called on Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to resign over his family’s involvement with the WE Charity. Trudeau is set to testify Thursday before the House of Commons Finance Committee, and Scheer joins Drew to discuss why he feels this scandal is big enough to warrant the resignations of Trudeau and Finance Minister Bill Morneau.

There has been a jump in COVID-19 cases in the province the last few weeks. Most of the new cases are on from Hutterite colonies. David Tschetter is the Chair of the Hutterian Safety Council and joins Drew to talk about what changes they are making to help prevent the spread of the virus, some of the challenges, as well as to speak about the discrimination some of the colonies have been facing.
