Fifteen-year-old Zev Heuer and his dog Blaze recently arrived in Saskatchewan so Zev could start his job with Churchill River Canoe Outfitters, but he chose to make the 2,100 km journey from Canmore to Missinipe by canoe, starting in early may and taking two months to complete the epic journey. Heuer joins Gormley to tell us more about the unique trip.

The Government of Saskatchewan unveiled a $4B irrigation project at Lake Diefenbaker Thursday, aiming to stimulate economic growth while irrigating up to half a million acres of land. The 10-year project starts with a $22.5M investment in initial construction, and three phases are planned. MLA Lyle Stewart is Legislative Secretary to the Minister Responsible for Water Security Agency, and he says the project will support diverse, high-value crops to make farms more profitable, and he joins Gormley to explain more about the project.

Pierre Poilievre, Conservative Shadow Minister for Finance, wrote a letter to the Auditor General asking her to include the Trudeau government’s decision to outsource the $900 million-dollar Canada Student Service Grant and the administration of this program to the internationally run WE Charity. Dr. Caillin Langmann, an emergency medicine professor at McMaster University, has studied the impact of gun control legislation in Canada from 1981 to 2016, and found firearms laws "had no associated beneficial effect on overall suicide and homicide rates."
