8,000 small businesses could close their doors in Saskatchewan if the federal government keeps the Canada Emergency Business Account (CEBA) loan repayment date the same. If nothing is done, some businesses in the recreation, hospitality and service sectors will have to close by the end of 2023. Brianna Solberg is the Director of Legislative Affairs of Prairies and Northern Canada for the Canadian Federation of Independent Businesses (CFIB)/ She joins Gormley to explain what thousands of these businesses are facing if they don’t get the help they need.

Wildfires continue to rage in the province, with 30 wildfires still burning. Saskatchewan has had 212 fires this year, with the Northern communities experiencing most of them. Steve Roberts is the vice president of the operations division for the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency and joins Gormley to give us an update on the wildfires.

A major bike lane project in the north part of Saskatoon significantly impacts residents and businesses. Connecting Ave C will build biking/walking lanes from 45th Street to Spadina. The concern is that businesses and residents were not adequately informed about the project size, and it seems this is something nobody was asking for. The federal government is instructing the CRTC not to apply the regulations to social media when it comes to the Online Streaming Act. This ensures that the laws only apply to commercial broadcasters streaming content online. Rosa Addario is the Communications Manager for OpenMedia and joins Gormley to discuss why this is a good move by the government for people who use social media.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders get the 2023 season started with a win over the Edmonton Elks. Rider reporter Birtton Gray joins Gormley to break down the win and where the Riders still need improvements.

On Friday, David Johnston stepped down as special rapporteur looking into foreign interference. The move comes a week after the House of Commons passed a motion to step down and testify at the Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs. Jim Farney is a political scientist and Regina Director of the Johnson Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy and joins Gormley to discuss what happens now and if we get an inquiry into foreign interference.

It follows 10 participants who dropped into the wilderness with limited supplies to outlast their competitors.
