2 Corinthians 7:2-16 - Speaker: Lukus Counterman - 2 Corinthians 7 is such a practical passage on the distinction between regret and repentance. Paul surfaces the contrast between godly grief and worldly grief, and he calls us to the former. When sin causes relational distress, the way forward is repentance, the sort that comes from godly grief. So, maybe you’ve heard someone say in exasperation, “Good grief!” Well, there is a good grief – it’s the godly sort that leads to repentance and ultimately the deliverance we need. May the Lord work in our relational fallouts to not just give us a hand, but give us joy in divine deliverance.

2 Corinthians 6:14-7:1 - Speaker: Lukus Counterman - The book of 2 Corinthians betrays a strained relationship between Paul and the church of Corinth. Even though he brought the good news of the gospel to these people, and even though he started the initial congregation, they turned on him. The relationship was cold and distant and so at the end of chapter 6, Paul explains the cause. The believers in Corinth were intermingling with unbelievers. They were toying with sin. They mistakenly thought they could blend Christianity and worldliness. But in the end, they were contaminated and their relationship with Paul was compromised. The way back home for distant Christians is to root out evil and run towards holiness in the fear of God. May the Lord teach all of us that lesson as we gather in worship this weekend.

Revelation 2:1-7 - Speaker: Jon Kopp - We are beginning a new series through Revelation chapters 2 and 3. In these chapters, we find a collection of letters from Jesus Himself to seven historic churches scattered across Asia Minor. About sixty years after Jesus ascended into heaven—after His church was birthed at Pentecost and had begun to grow—Jesus speaks again and gives His assessment of the health, faithfulness, and dangers facing His church. But these messages are not meant only for those original seven congregations. These letters were written to them, and they were written for us. Every single letter ends with the same phrase: “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” And that refrain matters, especially when we consider that these seven churches were not the only churches in the region at the time. Why were only seven churches addressed? Because, these seven churches summarize the kinds of situations and needs Christ’s people have always faced. We find a clue of this in how the Book of Revelation repeatedly uses the number seven to represent completeness and fullness. In other words, in these letters we hear a comprehensive word from Christ...one intended not just for the first century, but for every church and every follower of Jesus all the way to today. So as we begin this series, we are invited to lean in, to listen carefully, and to hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches.

Psalm 96 - Speaker: Lukus Counterman - We have one last Psalm as we enter the New Year. It’s a song of joyful praise to the true and living God. And it’s a song that calls us to spread the message of His worth to all the nations. “The Lord reigns,” the psalmist proclaims. “Declare his glory among the nations.” Our world is filled with worthless idols, but we must ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name. Join us as we worship God and seek to spread his fame across the earth…until all creation sings his praise!

Matthew 6:5-15 - Speaker: Chad Hunsberger - Jesus provides a clear explanation of prayer by providing a marvelous example of prayer for us to follow. His example of humility and boldness are ideal in our desire to imitate Him. Join us this Sunday as we dive into the Lord's Prayer from Matthew 6.

Psalm 119:105-112 - Speaker: Josh MacAvoy - As we come to the end of the year, we will wrap up by looking at a passage of Scripture that invites us to pause and consider God’s word as a whole; considering how we view it, why we trust it, and how we respond to it.

Over the past year as a church, we have spent countless hours reading, hearing, singing about, and responding to God and his word. As we look ahead to the coming year, it is fitting to slow down and reflect on the very word to which we are devoted.

In our shortened post-Christmas service, we will look to God and his word together. We look forward to what God will show us as we gather.

To prepare, please read Psalm 119:105–112. Pray that God’s word would be a lamp to your feet and a light to your path. And pray that as we enter a new year, with all that lies ahead, we would do so with an ear to God‘s voice and lives following him.

Psalm 130:1-8 - Speaker: Lukus Counterman - We are just days away from Christmas but that doesn’t mean everyone is enjoying joy and peace. As a matter of fact, some people feel like their sinking – sinking relationally, sinking financially, sinking spiritually. In Psalm 130, the author writes about the depths of life but then points us to our only hope. Wherever you are this Christmas, “hope in the Lord!”

Psalm 72 - Speaker: Will Galkin - Psalm 72 begins with King David praying that his son would be a good and righteous ruler. But it is not long into the psalm before the reader realizes that Solomon, or any other king, could never fully live up to what David is praying for. The very idealism of the prayer pushes us to look beyond every earthly ruler for its fulfillment. When Psalm 72 is read in light of the Abrahamic and Davidic covenants, it becomes clear that David’s prayer can be fulfilled only in Christ. He alone is the rightful object of all praise, because he is the King who rules with righteousness, brings lasting peace, governs with compassion, and is worthy of all glory.
