We learn from this passage how unique the first century apostles were as evidenced by the miraculous deeds God did through them to verify that these men spoke and wrote the very words of Christ. We also should be reinvigorated by Paul’s example to preach the gospel.
True unity in the church can be had by focusing on Christ in our ministries and preaching. The focus of ministry and preaching in every local church should be on Christ rather than peripheral issues of Christian liberty.
Paul prayed the weightiness of God’s glory would profoundly influence the thinking and worldview of believers such as those in Ephesus (and all of us). To understand why Paul would pray that believers would have “wisdom and revelation” of what Paul had just mentioned in the previous section is to realize the difference between meaning and significance. An unbeliever can see what Paul wrote and what it means, but believers take it seriously as the very word of God.

The faith of the redeemed will be tested, but the result of this testing will be shown to be to the praise of God’s glory. God brings honor to His own name by graciously saving and working in the lives of His own people.
God put forth His plan of redemption for all to see through Christ’s redeeming work. Revealed truth means that we can know who God is, what He said, what His plan is, and how to be right with God.
