  • Testing Revival Claims by God’s Word
Christians must evaluate claims of revival by Scripture. In this episode, Dave Jenkins explains why crowds, emotions, and miracle claims cannot establish that a movement is from God. Drawing on 1 John 4:1 and Acts 17:11, he outlines four principles for biblical discernment: submit to God's Word, look for Christ-centered teaching, examine lasting spiritual fruit, and exercise patience. True revival magnifies Christ, proclaims the gospel, and produces repentance and obedience. • #15 WCF 4:1 Of Creation
This episode examines Chapter 4:1 of the Westminster Confession of Faith, emphasizing that God created the world ex nihilo for the manifestation of His glory, power, and goodness. The speaker argues that the biblical account of creation in six 24-hour days is a non-negotiable tenet of Reformed orthodoxy, citing the Fourth Commandment and the plain meaning of Scripture to refute evolutionary interpretations. The discourse connects the doctrine of creation to the necessity of faithful church leadership and the avoidance of idolatry, urging believers to view nature as a revelation of God's attributes. By grounding the discussion in the Westminster standards, the message calls for a robust, confessional commitment to the historic Christian view of literal 6 day creation week.

  • Don’t be Open-Minded
This passage is a lot more meaningful if you can have a better understanding of the word for "sure" and the word for "simple". Sure is used by Paul and Peter in the New Testament and compared to their experience with Christ. The word for simple is actually a word that means an open-gate or door. And the image here is compared to our mind that has an open gate with no filter to keep things out or keep things safe inside our mind. In other words, don't have an open mind without filters or guards to keep bad stuff out, if you don't you are simple minded and you will have no discernment to guide you through the vicissitudes of life. The Word of God will give you the wisdom needed for life.

  • Luther's Separation from Rome
This sermon examines the biblical mandate for separation from false religion, grounded in the five rhetorical questions of 2 Corinthians 6. The speaker contrasts the principles of righteousness and unrighteousness, light and darkness, and the distinct personalities of Christ and Belial to demonstrate that no true fellowship exists between the gospel and apostasy. Historical examples, including Martin Luther's stand against the Roman Catholic Church and the formation of the Free Presbyterian Church in 1951, illustrate the necessity of separating from systems that compromise the truth. The central argument is that believers must align themselves exclusively with God, who promises to dwell with and receive those who come out of unclean systems. The message concludes with a call to maintain this distinctiveness, ensuring that the church remains a temple of the living God rather than an idolatrous institution.

  • Capital Punishment: Should Executions Be Live Streamed?
Should executions be live streamed, and how should believers view capital punishment? In this episode of the Straight Truth Podcast, Dr. Josh Philpot and Pastor Richard Caldwell examine the debate regarding public executions through the lens of biblical justice. Prompted by the news of Nidal Hasan facing a firing squad, they discuss what the Bible says about the death penalty. Pastor Caldwell explains from Genesis 9 and Romans 13 that capital punishment upholds the value of human life and that God has ordained the government to wield the sword. They explore how swift justice serves as a deterrent, the difference between governmental retribution and personal vengeance, and why Christians can support just sentences while still praying for the salvation of the guilty.
