GOSPEL POWER | JULY 28, 2021 WEDNESDAY | 17th Week in Ordinary Time
Gospel: Mt 13: 44 - 46
Jesus said to his disciples, “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which someone found and hid; then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field. “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of fine pearls; on finding one pearl of great value, he went and sold all that he had and bought it.”
Reflection
The emphasis of the two parables of today’s Gospel is on the inestimable worth of the reality that Jesus calls the Kingdom of heaven. Only one word can describe its equivalent — ALL. It is worth losing everything that one has in this world, for its value outlasts this world
Prayer
Lord Jesus, help us to recognize the absolute value of the heavenly Kingdom, which eclipses and relativizes all other values in this earthly life. Amen
