GOSPEL POWER | JUNE 22, 2021 | TUESDAY | Saints Paulinus of Nola and John Fisher, Bishops and Martyr Saint Thomas More, Martyr
12th Week in Ordinary Time
Gospel: Mt 7: 6, 12 – 14
Jesus said to his disciples, “Do not give what is holy to dogs; and do not throw your pearls before swine, or they will trample them under foot and turn and maul you. . . . “In everything do to others as you would have them do to you; for this is the law and the prophets. “Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the road is easy that leads to destruction, and there are many who take it. For the gate is narrow and the road is hard that leads to life, and there are few who find it.”
Reflection
The narrow gate leads to the path of the cross — which is the only place of transformation. Many are contented with maintaining the status quo, resisting the possibility of being displaced from their comfort zone. Thus they prefer to enter through the wide gate
Prayer
Lord Jesus, we want to be transformed and to become catalysts of transformation in our society. Help us to overcome our fear of entering through the narrow gate and taking the path of the cross. Amen.
