We have overcome the world – it is settled. The world system, kosmos, the spirit of this present age is no match for our overcoming faith.

For us to maintain the victory we enjoy, we must keep a proper perspective of the world. For the believer what is the world to us? What is the world NOT to us? And why is it necessary that we overcome it?

We have overcome the world – it is settled. The world system, kosmos, the spirit of this present age is no match for our overcoming faith that is Spirit-birthed and Spirit-Empowered. How do we practically overcome this present evil world?

By persistence! The Bible teaches us that we will reap a harvest if we do not faint. The purpose of victory in Christ is so that we persist in the way of righteousness, working out the plan of God in our life. Whatever you do, don’t give up the victory Christ has purchased for you!

By the word of your testimony. According to the Scripture, death and life are in the power of the tongue. Jesus said that out of the abundance of our heart our mouth speaks. The Bible tells us that the spirit of faith speaks! The word of our testimony is a key to our overcoming in this life. When our testimony, confession of faith, aligns with the Word of God, the power of God is released in our life which results in victory!

Devotion is defined, by Daniel Webster, as “The state of being dedicated, consecrated, or solemnly set apart for a particular purpose. A solemn attention to the Supreme Being in worship; a yielding of the heart and affections to God, with reverence, faith and piety, in religious duties, particularly in prayer and meditation.” The force of devotion is a necessary trait of the believer to practically experience the victory Christ has bought for us which now exists in our spiritual DNA as children of God. The Bible tells us that the “life is in the blood” as well that “every soul that sins must die.” The vicarious death of Christ, Him giving His Life for us, broke the power of sin and all that comes with it in the life of the believer. This is why the Bible tells us that we “overcame…by the blood of the Lamb…” There is power in the Blood! Power to overcome!
