In this powerful episode of Gospel Unfiltered, host Cornell Bunting takes a deeper look into the life of Abraham and the complicated events that unfolded within his household.

Abraham was called by God, given an extraordinary promise, and told that through him nations would be blessed. Yet behind that promise was a family story filled with waiting, impatience, jealousy, rejection, faith, and difficult decisions.

Cornell explores the relationships between Abraham, Sarah, Hagar, Ishmael, and Isaac, examining what happened when human beings tried to fulfill God’s promise on their own timeline. The episode looks at the birth of Ishmael, the arrival of Isaac, the tension over inheritance and identity, Hagar’s experience in the wilderness, and the powerful truth that God continued to see, hear, and care for those who were hurting.

The conversation also addresses an important question often raised today: Can the story of Isaac and Ishmael help us understand conflict in the Middle East?

Rather than reducing modern events to a simple biblical family dispute, Cornell separates biblical history from modern political history while examining why Abraham, Isaac, Ishmael, covenant, ancestry, and the land remain deeply significant within Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.

What does faith really look like when the church service is over?

Victor earned his Juris Doctor degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1990 and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Hamilton College in Clinton, New York. He also expanded his global perspective through studies at the Instituto Internacional in Madrid, Spain.

His impact in business and the community has earned him recognition as Businessman of the Year by the Southwest Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

Now, Victor is taking his commitment to service to another level as he runs for election to the United States House of Representatives to represent Florida’s 19th Congressional District. He has declared his candidacy for the Democratic primary scheduled for August 18, 2026.
