Welcome to Season 5: Beholding the King.
This season, we’re walking through the Gospel of Luke with one question following us throughout the journey: Will you follow?
In Episode 1, The Promise — When God Begins the Story, we begin in Luke 1–2 with Zechariah and Elizabeth, Mary, the shepherds, Simeon, and Anna—people who encounter God’s promises through waiting, questions, surrender, recognition, and faith.
We’re talking about what happens when God’s movement doesn’t match the picture we created, why questions and faith can exist together, and what these opening chapters reveal about the faithfulness of the God who sent the King.
Because the circumstances don’t have to look promising for God to be faithful.

September 03, 2026 Cultivating the Garden | Episode 11: The Harvest— The Evidence of Transformation

What if you’ve been so focused on how far you still have to go that you’ve missed how far God has already brought you?
In the Season 4 finale, we step back from the individual fruits of the Spirit and look at the harvest—the evidence of transformation.
Through Galatians 5:22–23 and John 15:4–5, we’re looking at what happens when the Holy Spirit’s work within us begins to become visible in the way we live, respond, love, surrender, and relate to God and others.
We’ll talk about recognizing growth without confusing it with perfection, how pressure can reveal fruit we didn’t realize had grown, why transformation goes deeper than behavior modification, and why the secret was never simply trying harder.
Because the branch doesn’t manufacture fruit. It remains connected to the Vine.
As we close Cultivating the Garden, we’re taking time to look back, recognize the evidence, thank God for what He has already done, and remain surrendered to the Gardener who is still working.
The fruit is the evidence of the Spirit.

What if self-control is less about what you’re being denied and more about what you’re protecting?
In this episode, we close out our journey through the nine fruits of the Spirit with Self-Control — The Fence Around the Garden.
Through 1 Corinthians 9:25, we look at Paul’s picture of an athlete whose discipline is shaped by what they are pursuing. Self-control helps us make present decisions with something greater than present desire in mind. It teaches us when to say yes, when to say no, when to wait, and when to walk away.
We also talk about why boundaries can be a form of protection rather than punishment, how wisdom prepares before temptation arises, and what to do when self-control breaks down.
And through a deeply personal story, we look at what restraint can actually feel like when choosing the right response does not feel peaceful, easy, or victorious in the moment.
The fence does not create the garden. It protects what has already been cultivated.
Self-control is choosing the eternal reward over temporary satisfaction.

What if gentleness isn’t the absence of strength, but the way we choose to carry it?
In this episode, we spend time in Matthew 11:29, where Jesus invites us to learn directly from Him and describes Himself as gentle and humble in heart.
We talk about what biblical gentleness actually looks like, why gentleness should never be confused with weakness, and how Jesus models strength that doesn’t need to dominate, humiliate, or prove itself. We also explore the connection between gentleness and humility, the difference between stewardship and control, and why boundaries, truth, correction, and firmness can still be carried with the posture of Christ.
Because the question isn’t whether we have strength.
It’s what happens to that strength when we’re frustrated, tired, disappointed, or hurt.
Gentleness is not weakness—it is strength that chooses tenderness.

What does faithfulness look like before the big opportunity arrives?
In this episode, we continue Cultivating the Garden: How the Spirit Transforms Our Lives with a conversation about faithfulness, consistency, and learning to steward what God has already placed in our hands.
Through Luke 16:10, we see that the little things are not disconnected from the important things. The ordinary responsibilities, unseen commitments, and repeated decisions are forming patterns of character and teaching us how to carry what has been entrusted to us.
Faithfulness is not perfection. It is continuing to return, take responsibility, keep your word, and remain obedient—even after the excitement wears off.
The size of the assignment does not determine the value of your obedience.

Through Romans 15:14, we see that the Holy Spirit is not simply changing our behavior. He is transforming us from the inside out. Goodness is formed through ordinary moments of surrender, integrity, obedience, and remaining connected to Christ.
You may still be growing, but that does not mean God cannot use you. What He has already placed within you can encourage, strengthen, and nourish someone else.
Goodness is not something we create. It is something God cultivates in us.

In this episode, we continue the Cultivating the Garden: How the Spirit Transforms Our Lives series with a conversation about biblical patience.
Through Romans 12:12 and James 5:7–8, we learn that patience is not passive. It is remaining faithful while trusting God’s timing. Like a farmer waiting for a harvest, we are responsible for planting, tending, praying, and obeying—but growth belongs to God.
Waiting does not mean God has forgotten you, and a field that looks empty does not mean nothing is growing beneath the surface.
Keep praying. Keep obeying. Keep tending the ground God has given you—and leave the growth in His hands.
