To address the issue of deviant behavior and the lack of employable skills among the nation's youth, the Saint Lucia Social Development Fund (SSDF), an agency under the Ministry of Equity, Social Justice, and Empowerment, has reintroduced the highly impactful Student Retreat component as part of its 'Our Boys Matter Programme.'
The program targeted over 100 of the most vulnerable, marginalized, and indigent boys, from forms one to four, at eleven secondary schools in the north, the Centre for Adolescent Rehabilitation and Education (CARE), and one secondary school in the south of the island.

A two-day meeting of the Caribbean Association of National Training Agencies (CANTA) ended in Saint Lucia this week with a renewed call for uniformed standards within the Caribbean region on Technical and Vocational Education and Training - especially in relation to the free flow of skilled workers within the CSME.

To reduce crime and violence and strengthen the nation’s family support system, the Ministry of Equity, Social Justice and Empowerment has rolled out a comprehensive Parenting Coaching Campaign as a third sub-component of the wider Crime and Violence Interruption Programme (CVIP).
Running from November 01, 2023, to March 31, 2024, the six-month program seeks to mitigate crime and violence by addressing persistent risk factors and fortifying existing family structures within communities.
