Late Sunday evening, the Senate voted 60-40 to advance legislation to end the longest government shutdown. Eight Democrats joined most Senate Republicans to advance the bill. The majority of Senate Democrats opposed moving forward with the deal because it does not address the health care tax credits, which has been their main arguing point throughout the shutdown fight.
