The coronavirus outbreak started in China but has moved around the world in the months since it was first identified. Federal and local health officials have mobilized to contain the virus' impact on Americans as it spreads worldwide.  

GovExec Daily spoke to reporter Eric Katz and Route Fifty reporter Kate Queram to examine how government is responding to the outbreak.

Earlier this month, Margaret Weichert, director for management at the Office of Management and Budget, announced that she will leave government soon. Weichert spent three years in government, including nearly a year as acting OPM Director. She was the White House's leading personnel point person and a main advocate for the President's Management Agenda.
