This false religion is already alive and well in our world right now. It's masquerading as an open-minded belief system, tolerant of everything and exclusive of nothing - except the clear truth of salvation found in God's Word. There is only one way to the Father, according to Jesus Christ.--Satan and the antichrist will and already have provided alternatives to the truth as they attempt to lead the world astray. They will use the false church in the last days and then transform it into the cult of the antichrist.

Last week we learned about the world-wide influence of the apostate church, both now, and in particular, in the last days, when it will be co-opted by the antichrist to form his own personal cult. But even before that, the false church wallows in immorality as it fakes the true purpose of the Church - pointing to Christ as the only way of salvation.

In this chapter, we're introduced to another leading character of the end times - the false church. Symbolized by a woman sitting on a beast, the pseudo-Christianity of the apostate church is revealed for what it is - a spiritual harlot. Blending all of the pomp and circumstance of the world with a works-based salvation creates an attractive spectacle. There are things to watch and things to do.

Last week we studied Satan's attempt to thwart God's redemptive plan - how he will gather armies from around the globe and come to oppose the return of Jesus Christ. It might seem foolish to us to think of anyone opposing the God and Creator of the universe, but Satan has been a successful deceiver for a long time. He's even fooled himself into thinking he can overtake Almighty God.--Today, we'll hear the conclusion of Pastor message. We've heard about Satan's attempt, but, not surprisingly, God shows up at the Battle of Armageddon. And God's attack will be decisive.

Last week we heard about God's bombardment of the planet - wave after wave of divinely ordained destruction. At the end of all of that, comes the final battle before the return of Christ. The battle of Armageddon.--Chapter 16 is just the first time we get a glimpse of this event in Revelation. We'll get another in chapter 19. But this will be enough to know that it's Satan's attempt to foil God's plans at the expense of unsaved humanity.

Pastor Pierre Rosa is continuing his study of the book of Revelation. At the end of chapter 14 we read of two harvest judgements, one of grain and one of grapes. This agricultural reference resonates throughout time, but here, instead of referring to provision, these harvests speak of divine reckoning.--Now, as Pastor himself has said, this passage will challenge our view of Jesus Christ. This is not a picture of Jesus as a baby in a manger, or Jesus as the lamb of God. This is Jesus Christ as righteous judge, sentencing unbelievers to their just end. We cannot avoid this part of God's nature. He is a holy God.

We're privileged to attend thanks to the faithful record of the apostle John.--Last week, as we listen to each presentation, we were struck by the terrible wrath of God's coming judgement. But this week, as we hear the rest of the Pastor's message, we should be impressed by the awesome compassion of God - continuing to reach out to rebellious humanity, even to the end. Both of these aspects of God's character are real.
