Overview: We must start by affirming the equality in Christ shared by male and female. The Bible exalted the view of women in the ancient world, affording them with rights and status absent in the Ancient Near East. However, when we speak of roles, we-re not speaking of essence -equality- but function -roles-. --These realties are apparent just from considering design-women can have babies, and men are better designed for hard work and defense. God distinguished femininity and masculinity, indicating respective roles of submission and of headship. Scripture qualifies an elder as -the husband of one wife- -1 Tm 2-2- while teaching that women are not allowed to teach men or have authority within the church -vv. 11-12-. Similarly, wives are called to submission in marriage -Eph 5-21- and husbands are called to sacrificial leadership -v. 25-. Men are not to abuse authority, nor does God afford them superiority.

Our services must involve prayer, the ordinances -the Lord-s Supper and baptism-, the reading and preaching of Scripture, and music.--When we talk about worship, music is typically where the mind goes -though the biblical definition encompasses much more-. We are commanded to sing as Scripture directs in -psalms and hymns and spiritual songs- -Eph 5-15-18-. Music should be skillful -Ps 33-3-, congregational -100- 111-1-, clear -1 Cor 14-7-10, 19-, edifying -v. 26-, loving -Eph 4-2- Phili 2-3-, and worshipful -22-22-. Overview: When it comes to church government, the one concern over all else is that Jesus is Lord over His church -Col 1-18-. He grants a variety of gifts for the edification of the church -Rm 12- 1 Cor 12-, specifically apostles, prophets, evangelists, and shepherds and teachers -Eph 4-11-. As such, it-s important to follow what His apostles and prophets have said in regard to the operation of church. --Specifically, in 1 Timothy 3-1-12, we see two offices for the church- elders and deacons. The term elder is synonymous with pastor or overseer, and we believe we should have multiple elders of equal standing who are biblically qualified to direct the matters of the church. The term deacon is that of service, and elders appoint biblically qualified deacons for the practical care of the church. All we do must be carefully and prayerfully executed for the glory of God.

Elders are to know their people, guarding the flock -Acts 20-28- cf. Overview: We-ve been taught if folks make a decision, pray the -sinner-s prayer,- or are baptized and pass confirmation, they are saved regardless of how live afterward. Essentially, Jesus continually saves people who never bow their knee to Him as Lord in this life, a teaching resulting in nominal Christians and false converts.--We don-t teach the need to -make Jesus Lord- or engage in good works to get saved. We-re saved by grace alone -Eph 2-8-9-, which leads us to good works -v. 10--which is why James 1-2 describes the kind of faith that produces no good works as a dead faith.
