Jesus sets for us the example of servanthood. He calls us to follow in His footsteps. We are challenged to choose service over self-interest and learn to think like a servant.

Hannah’s story paints a picture of what it looks like when we reach the end of our own ability and realize we have nowhere to turn but God. Her choice to trust fully in God in the midst of her desperation is an example for all.

Yes, most of us believe that God can accept anyone, but would he really use someone who has lived a life that we might qualify as scandalous? Is there room in God’s story for a person like this? You bet! God has a way of making heroes out of unlikely figures, and sanctifying, then using those who are far from Him.

Today we ask the question, “What happens when God sends his presence to be at work among a repentant people?”

Because God desires a relationship with us, he, himself, has created the way back. As Isaiah tells us, the reality is that we each have gone our own way, but God has never stopped calling us back to Him. Repentance is his invitation to us.
