July 12, 2026 Repentance: More Than Regret
Somewhere along the way, the word repentance got shrunk down to “feeling bad about it” — and that is not the word Jesus preached. In Week 5 of our summer series More Than: Recovering the Weight of the Words We Thought We Knew, Pastor Charles Williams opens 2 Corinthians 7:8–11 and recovers the weight of the Greek word metanoia: not a weeping word, but a walking word — a whole change of mind that turns into a whole change of course. Paul says there are two kinds of sorrow: one that sinks you and one that saves you. Sometimes the same tears. Never the same direction. We put Judas next to Peter, follow a boy out of a pigpen and down a long road home, and discover that the man on the corner with the sandwich board had the right word — and the wrong sign. Because Jesus never led with doom. He led with an open door: “The kingdom of God has come near.” Regret just stays where it sits. Repentance gets up and walks home.

June 21, 2026 Freedom: More Than Choices
Ask the average person what freedom is, and they’ll tell you the same thing: freedom is choices — doing what I want, answering to nobody. But that definition is too small. Because if freedom were just choices, the richest man with the most options would be the freest man alive. And we know that’s a lie.

In this Juneteenth message, Pastor Charles takes us to Galveston, Texas — June 19, 1865 — where freedom had already been declared two and a half years earlier, yet the news hadn’t reached the ground. Free on paper. Bound in their bodies. Somebody is living in those thirty months this morning: saved by the cross, but still rising before dawn for a master who doesn’t own them anymore.

Drawing from Galatians 5 and John 8, this message unfolds three truths about a freedom bigger than choices:
Freedom Begins with Leaving — you can’t leave the chains you won’t name.
Freedom Means Belonging — real freedom isn’t no master; it’s the right Master.
Freedom Is for Serving — you were freed to wash feet, freed to carry somebody, freed to love.
The cross is your Emancipation Proclamation, signed in the blood of Jesus. The order has been read. So the question isn’t will you be free — it’s whether you’ll walk into the freedom that’s already yours.

May 17, 2026 What Got You Here Won’t Get You There
Drawing from Joshua 3:1-5, this sermon reminds us of one immovable, undeniable reality: what got you here won’t get you there. Israel stood on the wrong side of the Jordan, the promised land sitting just on the other side of that water, and God said to them, “You have never been this way before.” The Red Sea crossing was about going out; the Jordan is about coming in. One was escape; the other is conquest. Same God — different posture. And the same is true for you and me. The prayer life, the habits, the mindset, the wilderness thinking that carried you to this place won’t necessarily get you to the place of promise God has prepared for you. You can’t carry Egypt into Canaan. But every new challenge comes wrapped in a new promise: “I will be with you wherever you go.” So consecrate yourself. Lay aside the weights. Leave the wilderness mentality on the wilderness side of the river. Because the God who brought you to this Jordan is the same God who stands ready to carry you across!
