Today, we will read how wonder was on the run when the holy family was told to flee to Egypt. And interestingly, a literal translation of the word for flee was the phrase, “to take safety in flight.” I’m sorry but that seems like an oxymoron to me. Safety in flight?

Life isn’t always wonderful. God never promised that it would be. What He did promise was to be with us, and do something good, even with our disappointments and heartaches. When life isn’t wonderful, God still works wonders.

Most Christ-followers aspire to live faith-filled and Spirit-led lives but in the everyday battles and stress, we often trip in doing almost the opposite of what we intended. We struggle in showing grace to ourselves, in our relationships, even across our generations. We need help and this passage in Galatians shows us how to grace in a Spirit-filled community.

As children we experience wonder constantly and that wonder leads to growth and vitality. But can that sense of wonder survive adulthood?
