The first five chapters of Isaiah are a long and ugly look at how lost in sin God’s people have become. Have they sinned away his grace? Well, Isaiah’s vision in chapter six answers that question.

The parable of the vineyard poses one very important question: ‘Is it possible to sin away the grace of God?’

What is a the root of sin? Ultimately it all comes down to a deification of humanity, worshipping humanity in the place of God. And Isaiah tells us that God will not stand for it - he has a day when he will be exalted, and everything else brought low.

God's people are so deep in their own sin, and yet, the LORD still offers them forgiveness if they will just turn to him. The choice is theirs: eat or be eaten.
