Time alone with God is a lifestyle for every follower of Christ where we seek solitude and uninterrupted time with Him to help us remain faithful in the midst of temptation, firm in the midst of weakness and humble in the midst of suffering.
The Lord Jesus used the word blessing many different times in the Bible. From Jesus’ sermon on the Beatitudes we draw out how to receive these blessings in our Christian life.
No one like disruptions in one's life. Not one bit. But oftentimes God interrupts our lives and disrupts the trajectory of where we're headed to teach us a powerful life lesson.
Many of us would agree that it’s not only hard to forgive, it’s a FIGHT to forgive, especially so when it involves those who have wronged us greatly or stabbed us in the back. Yet God tells us throughout the Scriptures to forgive one another, without even naming any conditions or exceptions. Why would God tell us to do something that is nearly impossible to do? Read Acts 15:36-41.
In this world where right and wrong is considered relative and where sin is justified, we often struggle not only with doing what is right, but even more so with determining what is right and wrong. Acts 15:1-35 gives us four guiding principles for how to determine right and wrong so that we can do what is right, be a witness to the world, and glorify God.
The rise of social media has created a more narcissitic generation of young and old where grandiose exhibitionism, beliefs relating to entitlement, and exploiting others for personal game is the norm. In this culture that doesn't shun away from the limelight, how can a follower of Jesus be intentional in his/her efforts to point away from self towards Christ so that others, too, can experience the enabling work and abundant grace of God in their lives?
As followers of Jesus, we should not be surprised when we face opposition. The Bible tells us that it is a normal part of the Christian experience as we live this life. So what are we to do when confronted with different types of opposition? Based on Acts 3:10-30, 11:19-30, and 12:25, Dr. Stephen Tan gives biblical principles on how to confront spiritual, intellectual, emotional, and physical opposition.
Followers of Jesus are recipients of God's grace and lovingkindness, and as such the church should be a place where broken and sinful people are given a second chance and an opportunity to shine for Jesus. Barnabas demonstrated this towards the apostle Paul, and from his actions we learn three biblical principles on how Christians are to look upon others through the lenses of how God sees us.
What does loyalty to God look like, and what are the reasons why we would want to be unconditionally loyal to Him no matter what situation we face? What happens when we are disloyal to God? Read 2 Chronicles 25.
There are three questions every believer must ask to help them live authentic Christian lives. Read Matthew 6:19-24.
