In the first two chapters of Job, we see God taking Job's wealth, children, and health from him. In this sermon we explore God's loving purpose in this, and see God's infinite, all-satisfying worth displayed.

God's final promise: he will make all things new--a new heavens, a new earth, and a new city for the family of God who thirst for living water without cost, without tears or mourning or death.

In this sermon we bring our prayer week to a close to talking about how we can keep the growth in prayer God has give us over this past week. We look at Jesus' words to us in Luke 18:1-8 (Always pray and do not lose heart), the promise of James 4:8 (drawn near to God and he will draw near to you), and then give 14 practical suggestions for growing in prayer.

As we begin our Week of Prayer, we take a look at what Jesus promises about prayer, from Matthew 7:7-11, how we can be even more effective in prayer, and what God might do through our prayer this week.

Paul calls us to live as wise believers because the days are evil by examining our lives, making the best use of the time, and understanding the will of the Lord.

The fourth truth we learn from Matthew about Jesus' birth is that he was born for the purpose of saving his people from their sin. In this sermon we focus on questions like: what is this sin that we need to be saved from? Why is this so important? And how does Jesus save us from sin?

One of Matthew's main points is that Jesus was born of a virgin, which is important because it means that Jesus was not just a man, but was GOD with us. The fact that God came to earth and became a man in Jesus is important because it shows how much we matter to God, it gives us clear knowledge of God, and it means we can have complete payment for our sins.

In emphasizing that Jesus is the Son of David, Matthew points back to the prophecies showing that God would raise up a king in the line of David who would be fully God and yet born as a baby, who would become our righteousness before God, whose reign would spread through the whole world, finally judging all the wicked and removing all the effects of sin, and filling the new earth with the knowledge of God.

One of the crucial truths Matthew wants us to understand about Jesus' birth is that he is the promised and prophesied son of Abraham, who would save people from every nation, tongue, and tribe from God's curse and bring them into the blessing of Abraham, which is the gift of the Spirit.

In Psalm 63:1-8 David teaches us about worship by describing how he longs for God, how he's met God in worship in the past, and how he is confident that he will meet God in worship again.
