One of the reasons Jesus was born was to solve our two biggest problems: the fact that our sin brings God's condemnation, and controls us by its power. But the good news is that Jesus came to earth to free us from sin's condemnation and control. Here's how he did that, and why it's so important for us.

Jesus teaches that to be his disciple we must love him so much that we gladly die to all the other things we've sought to secure and satisfy us.

In this passage, Jesus exposes our heart problems and calls us to humble ourselves and come to him.

Why would Jesus tell us we need to strive to be saved? Aren't we saved by faith in Jesus? We are, and yet there is an important sense in which faith takes striving, as we will see in this passage.

We constantly see examples around us and throughout church history of those who live lives of sacrifice for the sake of the kingdom of God. What compels them to live like this?
