He is Lord of creation! That means He is Lord of viruses and disease! He is Lord of sickness and health. He is Lord of all! We have nothing to fear! The storm that is raging around you is under His Sovereign hand!

Wisdom then comes from truth. A true perspective of ourselves, our abilities, and our accomplishments. May we not be lifted up with pride, but instead seek the advice of others. As we learn to see ourselves correctly, may we be men and women of wisdom.

If Jesus Christ had not taken the wrath of God on Himself:God would be unrighteous.We could never attain righteousness.Salvation would be impossible. The law reveals our unrighteousness.It exposes our need for something beyond ourselves to trust in.And so God, in His boundless grace and rich mercy, sends us Jesus.

Why is it so important to stay far away from covetousness? The end of the verse gives us the “because.” Why treat covetousness so seriously? Because life is not about what you have. Succeeding at life is not about having an overflow of resources! As the saying goes, “Be careful not to be possessed by your possessions.” Having a lot of stuff is not what life is about. This begs the question, “what is life about?”Jesus goes on in Luke 12 to tell a parable about a man who had a great harvest so he tore all his barns down and made bigger ones. He then decided he would party because he had all he needed. But that night, he died. The accumulation of wealth didn’t do him any good!Jesus ends the parable by saying that it is better to be rich toward God. How do we do that? Through faith in Jesus Christ and service for Him.Don’t spend your life trying to have a lot of stuff. Trust in Christ, live for Him, and you will have treasure in heaven.
