David also knew the sorrow of sin. Adultery and murder were on his rap sheet, yet these failures did not define him. Instead, David allowed these moral failures to deepen his love for and reliance upon God. What does defeat do to you?

Generosity was a rich part of David's character. He harnessed the financial resources God gave him to further the purposes of God in the earth. He serves as a model for all of us.

David was a man of many gifts. He was a faithful shepherd, a noble politician, and a skilled warrior but he was also a creative songwriter and joyful worshipper. He models for us the heart of worship.

David had an amazing friendship with Jonathan, the son of King Saul as well as other men. These friendships were forged in the heat of battle as well as in the hospitality of home. These friendships sustained David and they will sustain us as well.

In 1 Samuel 17, we read the amazing story of David taking on the giant Goliath. David had experienced God’s protection and power during his days as a shepherd over his father’s sheep. He knew down to his toes that God was with him as he faced off...

Spiritual warfare is real issue for Christ-followers. Evil in all its forms raises its ugly head against God’s purposes in our lives and world. In prayer, we can conquer evil!

We human beings mess up regularly! We damage and destroy our relationship with God, others and ourselves. We need forgiveness. It is a prayer away!

Our hearts were made to offer God praise. It has been said that worship bypasses the mind and goes straight to the heart. “You and I were made to worship!”

Our most basic need as human beings is love. Jesus said we could call God “our Father.” Think of the best Daddy in the world. He would pale in comparison with our Abba, Papa, Daddy, Father in heaven!
