We need food to sustain us, but we need Jesus even more. Our cry when we fast is “I want more of you, God”.

Fasting (abstaining from food, or any of God’s good gifts, as an act of worship) can be easily misunderstood. Why not enjoy what God offers us? The reason we fast is to say to God and to ourselves that we want, need, and hunger for him more anything else.

What is your purpose in life? Paul finishes his letter of encouragement to the Philippians by showing them the secret of how to find contentment and purpose in the right place – through a relationship with Jesus Christ.

The world searches for the secrets to contentment. In Philippians 4, Paul declares he has already learnt the secret to contentment. How can we learn contentment?

We explore what contentment looks like – that true contentment is found in Jesus and knowing Him. It is also learned through the battles in life that we face.

The peace of God is mind-boggling. It simply does not make sense. There is no formula to follow to experience this peace but it is available today and there are things we can do to make ourselves available and open to it.

The call on our lives is to know Christ and keep pressing on towards this goal. We do this as we understand who we are. Citizens of God, chosen by Him and eagerly awaiting a Saviour.
