Sermon Questions: Palm Sunday
Main Point: To be a follower of Jesus, we must let Him lead our lives.
Questions:
1. What impacted you from the message this weekend? What challenged you or encouraged you? Is there a difference between a fan of Jesus and a follower of Jesus? How would you describe the differences?
2. What was the significance of Palm Sunday? What were the different groups of people there? How did they respond to Jesus?
3. Matthew 21:6-11. Why did the crowds show up to welcome Jesus into Jerusalem? What did they think He was coming to do?
4. What things did they say to Jesus as He entered Jerusalem? What does this tell us about what they wanted from Jesus? What is the significance of Jesus entering on Jerusalem on a donkey?
5. Read Luke 19:37-40. In these verses, Luke provides additional details to Jesus’ Triumphal Entry. How do the Pharisees respond to the crowd and to Jesus?
6. Read Matthew 23:13-27. How does Jesus talk about the Pharisees and the Teachers of the Law in these verses? Are you surprised at the way Jesus talked to the religious leaders? Why were His words so sharp and condemning?
7. What does a modern-day Pharisee look like? Where do we find these same attitudes of the heart in the Christian church?
8. Read Mark 8:34-38. What does it mean to deny yourself, take up your cross, and follow Christ? What does it look like for a person to do these things? What reason does Jesus give to do this?
9. What would it look like to gain the whole world and have everything you want? How does gaining everything the world has to offer compared to following Jesus?
10. What is one thing you can do this week to put into practice what you learned in this message?
