Faithfulness is a quality or trait characterized by loyalty, trustworthiness, and steadfast commitment. It involves a sense of reliability, dedication, and consistency in one's actions and commitments. Today we will see how the faithfulness of God is put on display at the birth of John the Baptist.
We continue with our study of the book of 1 Peter and how Christianity offers a new, counter-cultural paradigm: Who you ARE determines what you DO. Peter goes to great lengths to demonstrate who we ARE in Christ which lays the foundation for a significant section of the book that spells out what we are to DO.
We value asking questions to better understand how to live life in a God-centered, Christ-exalting way. We believe that church should be the best place in which people can get solid answers to life’s questions from God’s Word.
The crucial difference between Christianity and man-centered religion lies in the answers to these two questions: Am I obedient in order to be saved? Or am I saved in order to be obedient? The first letter of Peter addresses this very issue. Today we will begin a careful analysis of Peter's assertion that God has made you holy; and based on that, you should be holy in your thinking and in your treatment of others.
Pilots understand the "1 in 60 rule": For every 1° you are off course, you will be 1 mile off course after traveling 60 miles. Today, we will adapt this principle to our context as a church, examining our spiritual "flight path" with the destination God intends for the world.
Jesus was truly God and truly man. Scripture tells us He never sinned. How did He do that? Did He pull out His “God Card” every time He was tempted or was there something else to it? Scripture shows that it was the Holy Spirit who empowered Jesus to live that way.
Around the year 60 A.D., the Apostle Paul wrote a personal letter to one believer on behalf of another. In that letter, we have a beautiful example of Paul putting into action what he taught the about unity in the church - that our relationships with each other as brothers and sisters in Christ take precedence over any other connections we have. Today we’ll see how Paul did that in the lives of two believers and learn how we can do the same in the lives of others.
We live in such a fast-paced culture that the urgency of the moment can eclipse our ability to remember the ways God has worked in our lives. Today, we will aim at curing spiritual amnesia to celebrate the truth of the faithfulness of Christ in our lives.
Is it possible to do what is truly right but not be right in the doing of it? Today, we will see that this is indeed a very real possibility accompanied by tragic consequence. May the words of our Lord prick our hearts and remind us of the unsurpassed joy that comes from doing what is truly right…rightly.
The last 3 weeks we’ve studied the temptation of Christ and Trusting God. Trusting God with our comfort in life, trusting God with our control of life, and last week trusting God with the approval of others. Today we’re going to be learning to trust God with our fears.
