One of the hardest parts of following God is waiting, but waiting doesn't mean God has forgotten us. Joseph spent thirteen years experiencing betrayal, injustice, false accusations, and imprisonment before God's promise finally came to pass. Throughout every setback, Scripture repeatedly reminds us that "the Lord was with Joseph." God's silence encourages us to trust that even when we can't see what He's doing. Life often feels like trying to put together a puzzle without having the picture on the box. We only see a few confusing or painful pieces—relationship struggles, health issues, financial stress, uncertainty about the future—and it's easy to want to give up. Through the story of Elisha and his servant in , we're reminded that while we only see part of the story, God sees the whole picture. The servant panicked because he only saw the enemy, but God opened his eyes to see that He was already at work in ways he couldn't see. The challenge is to keep trusting God, even when life doesn't make sense, believing that He is working through every piece for His purposes. Instead of quitting or trying to force everything to fit together ourselves, we can place our trust in God one step at a time, knowing He is faithful and that His peace is available even before we understand the outcome.

This talk reminds us that we're not the author of our own story—God is. In the final message of the How Not to Ruin Everything series, "Forgiveness Is Freedom," we explore one of the most challenging but life-giving aspects of healthy relationships: forgiveness. Using Hebrews 12:1-2 and Jesus' teaching in Matthew 18:21-35, this message explains that unforgiveness is a heavy burden that often feels like justice but ultimately becomes a prison for the person carrying it. Because God has forgiven us an impossible debt through Jesus, we are called to extend that same forgiveness to others. Forgiveness doesn't mean excusing wrong behavior, pretending the hurt didn't happen, or removing healthy boundaries. Instead, it means releasing it to God, trusting Him with justice, and allowing Him to begin healing our hearts. We can easily get pulled into other people's drama and followers of Jesus are called to respond differently. Jealousy, gossip, suspicion, and emotional instability create chaos that affects everyone nearby. We don't have to own every conflict or become another voice adding to the noise. One of the biggest challenges in healthy relationships is having hard conversations. Whether it's fear of conflict, disappointing others, people-pleasing, or simply feeling uncomfortable, many of us avoid the conversations we know we need to have. But avoiding difficult conversations often creates resentment, distance, assumptions, and unresolved pain. We should also receive difficult conversations with humility instead of defensiveness, recognizing that honest, loving conversations are one of the greatest ways we can love both God and the people around us. Healthy marriages aren't built on power, control, or keeping score, but on serving each other, fighting for each other instead of against each other, and keeping Jesus at the center.
