In today’s session of the Men of Grace & Granite, Jerry Wragg led a year ending question and answer session. The men in the room asked several questions about sharing the gospel with unbelievers. In addition to the sound wisdom provided, Jerry suggested several other resources for further study. Of course, we study these materials, so that we can share the Gospel of Jesus Christ in love. Here are the materials and a link to find them:

In Jerry’s absence, this week, we had a wonderful opportunity to learn about Biblical Parenting from Matt Waymeyer. We learned that success in parenting is not found in the results. Instead, successful parenting is found in our faithfulness to immediate work with our children. God’s Word gives us five principle goals in our work:
As we handle our work as faithful parents, we pray and keep in mind that it is God who saves and it is God who sanctifies our children. Our ultimate goal is to bring glory to God (1 Corinthians 10:31) as we labor in our work.
For further study fathers, Matt reminded us of Jerry Wragg’s sermon on September 25th of this year called, “Eight Gifts From A Father To His Children.” Here is a link to that message, in case you missed it: http://www.gibcjupiter.org/pages/sermons/detail/sermon/3000.
As a bridge from the last series on Discipleship and as an introduction to the new series, we went deeper into abiding, pruning, fruit production, and being filled with Christ’s joy. We returned to John 15 as our subject passage.
The bulk of the passage from verses 1-17 focuses on the abiding and pruning of believers. However, there is a stark warning for unbelievers who are also referred to in the metaphor as branches. These are those who are associating themselves with Christ, but have no spiritual fruit whatsoever (see Galatians 5:22). These branches are gathered and burned.
Thankfully, the passage teaches specifically:
In the Men of Grace & Granite we continued our series on Biblical Counseling & Discipleship. In the last several sessions we have been discussing cultivating a heart for confronting and being confronted. We can only get out in front to confront, if we are humble. And, we can only submit to being confronted, if we are humble. For both situations, we must learn humility.
The key principles for learning humility can be summed up as:
Join us again next week as we dig further into the ways we must learn humility.
