Grace Matters

Some thought He was Elijah but Simon said He was the “son of God”. That revelation is fundamental to summarising and understanding this series. Every Bible story will inform and inspire us but only the grace of God made possible by the death and life of Jesus and applied by the Spirit can change us. Jesus was make ‘just like us’ so that we may be changed to be ‘just like Him’. #17 in a series called Just Like Us.

Elijah ends in a blaze of glory calling us to consider how we live today and how we will finish tomorrow. By the power that Jesus gives us we can have a future to look forward to. #16 in a series called Just Like Us.

Almost at the finish line, Elijah trys to persuade Elisha to stay at Bethel, Jericho and then the Jordan. Elisha perseveres as can we by the power the gospel provides. #15 in a series called Just Like Us.

Amaziah is besigned with problems but chooses to go outside the community of faith for solutions, hears a message of jusdgement from Elijah that is also a warning for us.. #14 in a series called Just Like Us.

Elijah is given a message to return to Ahab and Jezebel, the people he’d fled from. God will give him victory in the place of defeat as He will us.. #13 in a series called Just Like Us.

Now that he has been commissioned Elijah has to fight to forget the past and look forward to the new future. We battle with our pasts and struggle with our present and cannot press into the future. We can overcome by the Cross. #12 in a series called Just Like Us.

God’s not finished with Elijah till He says so. He gives him a new commission and gets him back on the road to recovery and fulfillment. #11 in a series called Just Like Us.

The remarkable compassion and grace of God that encounters Elijah as it does — everyday. Reminding us that we are not loved more when we succeed, less when we fail. #10 in a series called Just Like Us.
