2 Timothy 2:15-19 - Rightly dividing the word of truth not only means cutting a straight line through Law and Gospel but more generally, it means teaching and preaching the whole counsel of God accurately without twisting it to fit all manner of false doctrines, which ultimately impact negatively on the Gospel of Christ. Premillennial Dispensationalism with its secret Rapture is given as an example of overthrowing the great Christian hope of one future coming of Jesus, one resurrection and one judgment.

Psalms 23 - Life is a journey; the way is often difficult, the problems very real. Sadly, many people think that the way to contentment and success is to live their own lives their own way. In essence, they try to be their own Shepherd. This may seem successful for a time, but it is empty and broken. Both prosperity and poverty bring their own heartaches and pain. Look around this world, see the lack of contentment, the loneliness, broken homes, attempts at escapism, the drug abuse, and so much unhappiness. This has not been working out too well.

But David was not aimlessly adrift. Thinking of his experience as a Shepherd, by the Holy Spirit, he saw himself as if a sheep, as one who had been cared for and guided throughout his life by a personal Shepherd who watched over him and led him safely day by day.
